About Robert Mason

I am a fourth-year PhD student researching better ways to predict coral bleaching, combining physiological studies with remote-sensing by satellites. My research has taken place on Heron Island in the southern Great Barrier Reef, and at Kaneohe Bay in Hawaii. I have experience in conducting large and long-term tank experiments on corals, as well as extensive experience in underwater fieldwork. By developing better methods to predict coral bleaching, we can prioritise actions to reduce local and regional stressors to reefs to help reefs cope with the increasing stress posed by climate change.
